Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) is a herbaceous plant of the Lamiaceae family. It would be a cross between Mentha aquatica and Mentha spicata. It is a perennial plant by its rhizomes which clings in the Earth; It spreads by stolons. Its leaves are 4-10 cm long, they are oval, dark green and dye of reddish Sun shades and red copper in the shade. They are covered with large rounded secretory hairs in which accumulate odorous volatile substances.
Hippocrates and Aristotle used it as anaphrodisiac (soothing, anesthetic). As in all mints, tradition assigns aromatic properties (tonic, restorative) and digestive properties (combat burden, bloating, gas).
Action: • symptomatic treatment of digestive disorders (bloating, slow digestion, etc.), including those that are assigned to a hepatic origin;
• adjuvant treatment of pain related to gastrointestinal functional disorders;
• to facilitate the functions of urinary and digestive elimination.
