The ultrafiltration, as main element of the technology promoted by C&V Water Control, takes place under the pressure of the water column above the membranes module, from outside to inside.
The size of the membrane pores is 0.04 µm, filtering the effluent. The treated effluent has no solid suspended matter, nor phosphorus as deposit, bacteria, oil or emulsified fat, macromolecules or colloids.
Unlike the classical solution with gravitational separation of the sludge formed by the treated water, the physical separation through ultrafiltration membranes is much more efficient for it does not allow that the sludge is removed in the treated effluent (case met due to the inefficient gravitational separation or due to sludge flotation in the secondary settlers).
The ultrafiltration membranes have a long lifetime, of approx. 10 to 15 years, although it could be replaced in a phased manner, as 20 to 30% membranes / case.
