sapphires are not only found in the blue variety, but in a lot of different colors (for example pink, green, purple, yellow, orange, white etc). then, they are called fancy sapphires. it can be also a complicated distribution of different metalloxides in one stone, as in green sapphires, where there is a " mixture" of blue & yellow sapphires. the prices depend on color, cut, clarity & carat-size.
