Its amber-colored gum resin is used in incense because of its unique fragrance. It is used widely for treating arthritis, asthma, brain tumors and ulcerative colitis. The gum oleoresin consists of essential oils, gum, and terpenoids. The terpenoid portion contains 35-90% boswellic acid.
